The Anti-Vote

NOW THE ANTI-WOMEN VOTERS have another reason to anti-vote.

It seems that the folks who want to find a reason to vote AGIN’ someone have a new target. I wonder if those who would vote against Obama because he is a black man are the same voting bloc who would vote against Hillary just because she was a woman? Now those “anti-woman” and “anti-black” voters have nowhere to go. They certainly would not vote for Ralph Nader.
I also have to note that the voters who complained that Obama lacked experience now have to look at the GOP ticket and wonder: What was John McCain thinking? He just threw away his advantage in the “experience” category. But how many voters REALLY choose their candidate based on the VP side of the ticket?
The candidates need to consider any potential DRAWBACKS the VP nominee would present, and I think Palin’s lack of federal experience will give the Democrats a strong argument to target.
I think Sara Palin will be a terrific campaigner and debater, but…will she be seen as a potential President? Shades of Geena Davis in the television show Commander-in-Chief, which failed miserably. Even the star power of Geena Davis could not keep it afloat. A female President with no experience? The question will invariably be asked, “Could Palin be a viable standard-bearer for the GOP four years from now?” and the other question, “If Palin had to assume the Presidency, could she run the country?”
The GOP is wisely keeping a low key as Hurricane Gustav hits the Gulf Coast. The Dems are also playing down the political angles as the country deals with a potentially tragic weather event.
This reminds us again that our common interests bind us together as a nation, and are far more important, and greater in number, than the issues we choose to argue about.
