Are We Going to Watch the Conventions on TV?

Are you planning to watch the national party conventions on TV? I’m Not, but that’s just because they are BORING.
And why should we watch? Obama will be nominated by acclamation. Biden will be nominated by acclamation. McCain will be nominated by acclamation, Romney (perhaps?) will be nominated by acclamation.
The party platforms don’t mean anything at all. The actual election issues don’t really come into play.
The speeches will all sound VERY familiar. If you have watched ANYTHING on the election issues during this campaign year, (and last year) you will have heard it all before. Many times.
For the record, the national party conventions don’t mean anything anymore. No suspense, no decisions, no great deal-making, no cigar-filled backroom intrigue, no colorful characters vying for attention, no state delegation in-fighting: nothing. There simply is no reason to watch a preview of what we will be shown in political advertisements for the next 10 weeks or so…over and over again. And then over and over again some more.
Polling shows that even the “undecideds” have subconscioiusly made up their minds. They know who they DON’T WANT to win. That too is a familiar refrain. Voting AGAINST someone. Voting for the lesser of two “evils.” I have to put the word “evil” in quotation marks, because we really aren’t faced with the decision to vote for or against “evil.”
Nope. I will find other ways to occupy myself during the televised convention hours. (However, I may admit that I am planning to readi a recap the mornings after.)

I plan on watchin just so I have something to blog about this week!
